Speaker/Historian In-Training

POSITION
The Speaker/Historian presents historical and behind-the-scenes knowledge about dance to OBT audiences inspiring them to learn, watch and wonder about dance. The Speaker/Historian is an ambassador of Oregon Ballet Theatre’s Education/Community Engagement Team. Engagements occur throughout the season through In Studio Rehearsals, lectures, and pre-performance talks. The position reports to the Director of Education/Community Engagement.QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate is Interested in dance, dance history, and research; comfortable speaking presentationally; able to relate to a wide variety of people; is self-motivated; comfortable creating presentations; able to improvise and think on their feet; willing to train and observe for the 24-25 season, support with The Nutcracker this December and implement both day and evening work for 25-26 season and beyond; and able to navigate work ebbs and flows, understanding that summers are off.Candidates must be able to pass a thorough background check. While not required, successful candidates will have specific experience within education, ballet, or the performing arts.
