Art in Motion Across Oregon

Each year, OBT welcomes ballet lovers to downtown Portland. In a city so defined by its devotion to the arts, we’re grateful to contribute as a cultural anchor, a guiding light, a reliable partner, and an educational beacon.

We honor the traditions of this art form and this community while seeking new and creative ways to achieve artistic and organizational success. Nurturing Emerging Talent

OBT2

Building a sustainable future for young artists is a responsibility OBT takes very seriously. OBT is committed to developing the next generation of dancers through our pre-professional division, OBT2, and our Trainee Program. Under the mentorship of OBT2 Director Dominic Walsh, alongside our artistic staff and renowned guest instructors, aspiring dancers receive the support, guidance, and technical training needed to transition into professional careers.

OBT School

Founded on the principles of excellence, inclusivity, and sensitivity, OBT School has served as a pillar of ballet education in the Pacific Northwest for more than 35 years. We train tomorrow’s artists through a holistic approach that honors both tradition and innovation.

Between our exceptional faculty, the opportunity to perform with OBT Company dancers, and, of course, the students themselves, our school nurtures inspiration. More than a training ground, OBT School is a launching pad that gives students the tools to thrive, from their first plié to their final bow. In 2024, we awarded 33 scholarships, totaling $90,000, to talented students, working to ensure that every promising student has an opportunity to excel.
