Nicholas Sakai was born in Colorado, where he first began training at the Colorado Conservatory of Dance under the tutelage of Julia Wilkinson Manley. He than trained at the Houston Ballet Academy under the guidance of Claudio Muñoz and Andrew Murphy. He began his career at Dayton Ballet under current artistic director Karen Russo Burke. At Dayton, he performed soloist roles such as Escamillo in their production of Septime Webre’s Carmen. He then went to Eugene ballet to work with current artistic director Toni Pimble, where he enjoyed performing a variety of soloist roles such as Hans in Toni Pimbles’ Nutcracker and Lucentio in her The Taming of the Shrew.
