Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Karl Pil began his dance training at age sixteen under the instruction of Eun Young Ahn in the Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre School’s Student Division. Pil furthered his studies in Pittsburgh Ballet Theatre’s Pre-Professional Division, before accepting an invitation to the University of North Carolina School of the Arts (UNCSA) where he trained under the instruction of Mikhail Tchoupakov and Ilya Kozadayev. At UNCSA Pil was showcased in original works by Danielle Rowe, Claudia Schreier, Gina Patterson, and Tom Gold. Pil graduated from UNCSA in 2024 with a BFA in Classical Ballet and a Minor in Arts Entrepreneurship. He is a recipient of the Tom Kenan Merit Scholarship and a two-time recipient of the Gillian Murphy Endowed Scholarship.
