Charles-Louis Yoshiyama was born in Shizuoka, Japan. Started Ballet training at 5yrs old in Hiraki Ballet school before moving to English National Ballet school 2005-07 with Japanese government support. Received Level 6 national diploma in professional dance at Trinity College London. 2007 Prix de Lausanne-Contemporary award, finalist. YAGP NY Final- Contemporary Award, finalist. Joined Houston Ballet II in 2007, became apprentice in 2008. After premier of Stanton Welch’s Giselle, promoted to Principal dancer in 2016. Major Performance experiences at Houston Ballet Sir Kenneth MacMillan’s Crown Prince Rudolf in Mayerling. Des Grieux in Manon. George Balanchine’s Theme and Variations, Rubies, Emeralds, Ballet Imperial; John Neumeier’s Oberon in A Midsummer Night’s Dream; Ben Stevenson’s Basilio in Don Quixote; Prince Florimund and Bluebird in Sleeping Beauty; Mercutio in Romeo and Juliet. Prince in Nutcracker, Jerome Robbins’ Other Dances and Fancy Free, Stanton Welch’s Siegfried in Swan Lake, Solor in La Bayadere, Albrecht in Giselle, Eros in Sylvia. Has danced by other known choreographers such as: Ronald Hynd, Sir Frederick Ashton, David Bintley, Jiří Kylián, Christopher Bruce, John Cranko, William Forsythe, Wayne McGregor, Trey McIntyre, Azure Barton, Edwaard Liang, Alexander Ekman, Christopher Wheeldon, James Kudelka, Mark Morris, Justin Peck, Twyla Tharp, Jorma Elo, Hans van Manen. Charles-Louis has performed worldwide in cities such as, Paris, New York, London, Dubai, Tokyo, Hamburg, Melbourne, and a variety of cities in USA and Canada.
