BACKSTAGE PASS: A Sneak Peek at the Giselle Set

Take a tour of the Giselle set we’re borrowing from the Teatro del Maggio Musical Fiorentino in Florence, Italy!  If you like what you see, you’ll be excited to hear that we’re also borrowing their costumes, which are equally lush and gorgeous.  We can’t wait for you to see it on Opening Night!

  1. OBT ad for Giselle featured Yuko IIno as principle ballerina. So I purchased two tickets. I find out today that she will not be performing 2/25. You ad is misleading. It should be made very clear who the principle players are for each performance. I am reluctant regarding purchasing tickets for future performances.

    1. I am very sorry that you found our artwork for Giselle misleading. It was certainly not our intention to be so. You may not be aware that for major works like Giselle, there are nearly always multiple people cast in the principal roles, due to the demands of the choreography. It is unfortunately not possible for us to create different ads and artwork for the different performances based on casting, nor is it possible for us to know when the show images are created which dancers will ultimately be cast in a given performance.

As you appear to be a passionate Yuka Iino fan, I would recommend checking in with our website 2 to 3 weeks before the production you wish to attend. By that time, casting will have been posted to the show page and you will be able to select your performance date based on when when your favorite dancers are scheduled to perform.

If you would like to exchange the tickets you have already purchased for the date she is performing, I would be happy to coordinate that for you. You may reach me at trisha.mead@obt.org to arrange the details.

Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to having you join us at the performance.

  2. WOW, I cannot BELIEVE that someone is complaining about the casting!!!! COME ON PEOPLE, the ballet is “Giselle”, not “Yuka Iino”! While she is a favorite of mine too, I go for the ballet, NOT the performer. How ungrateful and unappreciative of all the other beautiful dancers you are.

OBT, you on the other hand, handled this complainer with grace. I applaud you.

  3. You can’t please all the people all the time and sometimes people refuse to be pleased at all… OBT, you are in fact a class act and I can not wait for the performance on 2/25, because I have no doubt that if you put them in, they are pure talent…
